Anonymous asked: Could you please do a Dark Alessa look? You've probably got a ton of these requests, but... I think it would turn out great :3
:D :D :D on the way already darling! i’m so happy to tell you this haha.
I am thinking of creating a WHERE HAVE I BEEN? video for YouTube since a lot of people seem to be asking me this question in the comments section of my Cirque du Soleil video.
I could talk about a few of the adventures I’ve been on in the past 12 months, from working on various filmshoots as a makeup artist to events like Universal Studio’s Halloween Horror Nights, my first time working as a FX makeup artist at Fright Fest (alongside a few FACE OFF contestants!), Monsterpalooza, IMATS, life in film school and maybe even my experience working with James Franco in a theatre-film collaboration project …. and more!
… Additionally, I was also thinking of inviting you all to a live BlogTV session 1 day after the video is posted for new questions you may have after seeing the video!
But my question to you right now is, what questions would you be interested in me answering in this WHERE HAVE I BEEN video? Love to hear your thoughts! xoxo Auds
** Included photo illustrates a few of these things! All the makeup seen in this picture were done by me ^___^
?
Can you make a tutorial for Esther from Orphan? I’m going to be her for Halloween or randomly. Thanks!
tricksterbonquisha asked: WHERE DID YOU GET THE KRYOLAN Face stuff for like your witch tutorial thingy. I can't find it anywear on amazon :'c Brb crying.
Break free from Amazon! What i do is, I type in the name of the product I’m looking for on Google.com then click SHOPPING and it shows me multiple sites with price comparisons for where I can purchase online ;)
Here’s one where you can buy the Kryolan Bruise Wheel and more …
http://www.ecrater.com/p/9009974/bruise-wheel-kryolan-fx-halloween?gps=1
That is not a site I always use, it’s just something I found right now and if I were looking to buy the bruise wheel right now I would probably have just purchased from there.
But really, try out that Google method, works like a charm for anything and everything you’re seeking to buy online <3

lfrankbaum asked: i know you've mentioned before that you really love spirit stores...how is the quality of their wigs? (sorry to bother you)
Hello!! I’m sorry for the late reply —- Spirit Store wigs hmmm I have bought them before, in fact I’ve bought quite a few …. you can definitely tell the difference between these wigs and say year-round wig store status … they tend to be more stringy, plastic-y feel to them. They’re really shiny and smell like plastic and they’re hard to brush once they get tangled. They’re tacky. But. I do own a few. But they cost like … $25-40 for whatever reason there when you can buy a much better quality wig somewhere else for the same price. But if it’s just a one-time thing for an easy Halloween costume, I see nothing wrong with it. But if you’re looking to invest, I say look elsewhere ^___^ Sorry, I know Halloween is LONG past at this point! x__x
anniesoccerchick asked: Hi Cat. I'm trying to get into special effects make up and I dont know what school to go to or really what should I be looking for you inspired me so much that I decided to leave my engineer field and go for make up. I tried experimenting this year for halloween and I had a blast so I know I'm making the right decision but I just want to know which school you go to since it seems like you really enjoy it.
Hi lady! Sorry this response is a bit late. I’ll give you the best advice I can but you may be surprised I’m not as pro as you may think!
First of all, I am so proud of you for daring to go after something new that you’re passionate about. I know it’s a little scary sometimes, trying to get into this big field and not knowing if you’re good enough yet at the same time trying to gain the support of others, e.g: parents. But you simply taking the step to even try says a lot, the passion is there :)
So as for school … I actually don’t go to and have never attended a makeup school. I took a Stage Makeup class in a community college about 2 years ago but since then it’s just been self-taught (as in, watching YouTube videos, asking questions … watching Face Off, reading about fx makeup products, experimenting on my own and working with and under other makeup artists that know what they’re doing and picking their brain.)
I go to a performing arts college right now in L.A., I’m there to study filmmaking but I actively do freelance makeup on the side right now. (Usually for film shoots)
But if I could go to any makeup school right now if I wasn’t currently in film school, I would go to Cinema Makeup School. It’s in Los Angeles and though I haven’t even been there yet, I’ve been reading about them and really admire their program and the people associated with that school.
I hope that helps and remember there’s many other makeup schools, and I mean MANY. That is just the one on the top of my mind right now.
I wish you the best of luck and passion in your new-found career!
